Wisdom of the Ages

the cold stone floor
strewn with leaves,
debris inhabits
the niches.

dusty volumes
rotting away,
falling apart
to the dying breath
of the lonely wind,
haunting empty corridors.

there was life
in these halls…
not a soul cares
about the collected wisdom
of mankind.

long forgotten –
left to fade.
