tip your hat and leave
the everlasting night
for the sun
is just around the corner,
ready for you to peek
and admire.
a day goes by
where the jugglers in the streets,
intoxicated by cellphone bliss,
run through the lanes of nature’s womb
without ever looking up.
the sun in its glory
does her best to warm and guide;
those few
who sit on the pavement,
sip their coffee and observe
are the ones called true.
you can see it ~
look closely
and you may find
the hidden door
to the land of Narnia…
where the lion speaks
and strength resides.
look at the sun,
at the faces beneath ~
and reveal
your courage
to open doors,
to make lions talk.
bathe in day’s colorful patterns,
mind’s scissors
cut puppet strings –
to take your first steps
on wobbly legs.

I like thinking that one may just find Narnia!! (Wouldn’t that be nice?) Love cutting puppet strings and taking the first wobbly steps in the last stanza. Beautiful writing all around.

nice…i so love the narnia connection in this….and our ability to open those doors….and the strength it takes to open those doors…and to cut those strings as well….

thank you for stopping by 🙂
i think if it was ever easy to open these doors, we’d get spoiled too quickly. so sometimes a struggle is a good struggle.

This is a really lovely write…filled with magic and hope..peeking behind the ordinary to find a host of joy-filled experiences in just being under the sun and in accord with nature. I love it!

OOOH…I love everything about this… but the last paragraph in particular — sad to think how many of us go through life as mere “puppets,” waiting for another to tug our strings. Thanks for sharing your delightful perspective! XO
