when your soul
from its socket
by a spliced hair,
it’s the hour of the wolf ~
and death
leaves its rotting breath
upon your cheek.

fear not, my love ~
for you will soon
leave all madness behind.

Tank Man|Courage

one heart
death and steel.

one heart
beating strongly,
beating with purpose.

i salute your courage,
brave heart…
may your deed
the numb,
the paralyzed.

Tank Man, or the Unknown Rebel, is the nickname of an anonymous man who stood in front of a column of Chinese Type 59 tanks the morning after the Chinese military forcibly removed protesters from in and around Beijing’s Tiananmen Square on June 5, 1989. The man achieved widespread international recognition due to the videotape and photographs taken of the incident.”

stripped bare
under neon lights;
cower in the shade
of oblivion.
pupils dilate,
people deflate –
and it all
comes down to
or lack thereof.

Long Road To Deliverance

anger turns to sickness,
body feels its weight
but forgiveness… still a million miles away.
i am torn
between peace and chaos
rage tethered to my back
feet stuck
in rapid-hardening cement
while i try
to drag myself
towards relief…
and peace of mind.

it is never easy
to break free
and leave darkness behind.

Distant Shores? Bring it on!

as for living
i made my choice
stepped out of the circle,
jumped into the windswept sea.
it might not seem like much,
not right now,
but i paid attention
when i had swimming lessons
and i am sure
i can stay afloat.
now i’m off to
distant shores
which i can’t see yet

and just in case it gets too hard
i still have
my floaties –
so i can
take a break
and study
the lay of the land… or sea.
