Once, Always.

once, I did not drown ~
forced towards
stagnant water’s edge

washed you off my hands,
once, twice, thrice ~
yet, you never left.

water turned to sand ~
i found you,
once again, timeless

now, as storms pass, your
lips are mine ~
as you always were.

Lessons

i am the lover
we won’t part
and dawn holds our dreams

i am the faithful
never part
and dawn clings to dreams

i am the villain
so we part
and dawn shatters dreams

i am the reformed
impartial
and dawn evokes dreams

Bricks

dawn breaks (her backbone)
unmoving
he laughs at her grief

a life in fragments
same old trip
down memory lane

she scoops up pieces
and endures
yet another void

broken teeth chatter
the soundtrack
abstract, bitter truth

Dead End

crude fingertips taunt
milky glass
rim’s angry squeals ring

vicious crescendo
lovers’ lane
broken; end credits

lies set the table
one last stare
no words left to give
